West-Indian American Military Members Association (WIAMMA)

One People, One Nation, One Family

The purpose of the West Indian-American Military Members Association is to promote awareness, increase understanding and recognize the contributions of West Indian-Americans to the United States military. This is done through the exchange of culture, promoting diversity through education and celebration, while focusing on the month of June as the West Indian-American Heritage Month, and continuing throughout the year.
WIAMMA has for the past 12 years, sponsored yearly events, participated in community activities and functions, and supported family, friends and associates.  We recently our charter in 2005 from Andrews AFB, as an official, non-profit organization.
During 2008 we participated in several military and community events such as the Air Force District of Washington Annual Awards and the Washington DC Caribbean Carnival. We also made contributions to military and civilian organizations such as the 316th Wing Annual Awards, the 89th Air Wing Annual Awards, the 789th Medical Group Annual Awards, the Air Force District of Washington Annual Awards, the May Pen Rock All Age School in Jamaica West Indies, the Francis T Evans Elementary School in Clinton Maryland, and the Trinidad and Tobago Working Women’s Committee of Washington DC Scholarship Fund.
